Baker-Vegas 2008

Hurricane Bay - Another side of the tornado!

The Clerc's come to town!

Could it be?

Could this one trailer have caused all of this?

It's our theory that this trailer hit our garage first, knocking it off the foundation, came around again and made the hole in our roof. From there it hit the corner of our neighbor's house, bounced off their railing and finally hit the house on the west of them, making it pancake. It ended up there.

Of course, it's all speculation but from the lumber in our ceiling we know that something went through there. There is paint transfer on the railing next door.

The trailer was parked next to the house next door. His wife had been telling him to get rid of it for a few weeks! It was his partners trailer and they had used it for moving! If the trailer hadn't come through we probably would have suffered some major roof damage and possibly some water damage, but nothing as severe as we have! I'm not real fond of that trailer I'll tell you!

Rebuilding begins...

Happy 9th Birthday, Shae!

Ashleigh's Dance Recital - 2008

Going, going, gone (kitchen/dining room)

We suffered more from water damage than the tornado (at least we think so). Here you can see as it progressed in the kitchen and dining room.

A visit with the Ostranders!

Happy 7th Birthday, Ashleigh!

Got to celebrate Ashleigh's 7th birthday with her! She had a "pampering" kind of day! She had her hair done, manicure and pedicure, went to lunch at Dixie Cafe (her choosing), opened presents, had cake, showed Grandma how she could now ride her bike without training wheels and generally had a great day!

It was a fun day!

Happy birthday Ashleigh!

In between...

It hasn't all been tornado "stuff". We've gone to a catfish fry at Janet & Mark's (NO I did NOT eat the catfish). The picture shows Mark, Troy (our contractor) and Tracy, Troy's youngest daughter. They had been out to check the "yo-yos". We had never heard of these kinds of "yo yos". I think most of the catfish ended up coming from the store and not out of the lake!

We also attended several things at Ashleigh's school, including a music program, an awards ceremony and an end of year school party!

A closer view continued...

This is the courtyard area. You can just see the motorhome in it's garage. To the right is the foundation of the garage. The garage is where everything out of storage had been delivered just days before. You would think that most of it was under the debris, but in reality it's not. There was some, but most is gone. Don't know where...just gone! What was under the debris is broken, bent, wet, muddy - not much worth saving. I've been busy making a list. I think I'm up to 1000 items. Think about everything you have in your house...pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, utensils, towels, blankets, pillows, tools, photo albums, yard tools, outdoor stuff, sewing and craft items, collectibles, pictures, knick knacks, Christmas decorations, holiday decorations, games, papers...you name it, it's gone!

This is basically right after the tornado, or how we found it. We're beginning to move stuff out of the way so we can get the motorhome out of the garage.

Inside the house. The window at the breakfast room. You can see our patio furniture. The barbecue only moved. It never fell!

This is the west side of the house. We didn't know that we had no roof over the master bathroom until we went over to our neighbor's house later that day!

A closer view...

These were taken just after the tornado...this debris consists of our garage, roof and belongings!

A few of the moose I "had". Now they are wet and muddy. Some had tears in them. The black pipe is (or should have been) our leech line for the septic tank. Because the ground was too wet, they could never be installed and that's why we were using the motorhome.

A view of the back of the house. See the doors on the right near the satellite dishes? Through those doors and to the right is where the safe room is. We could hear the satellite dishes and just hoped that they stayed put. One of them has a bent bracket! There "WAS" a moose weathervane in the back yard! I have no idea where it is now! It might be in the lake or it might be miles down the road!

This "WAS" our four-car garage. This was taken shortly after the tornado.
